Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, recently stated some positive news for the populace. The CM Punjab Solar Scheme for Consumers is a new initiative that has been launched. In this initiative, the government of Punjab will provide up to 100,000 solar systems at no cost to poor households with a consumption range of 0-200 units through public balloting.

In consideration of the aforementioned significance, the Chief Minister of Punjab has implemented a solar scheme for tube wells to provide producers with cost-effective agricultural processes. Pakistan is blessed with an abundance of renewable resources. It is a prudent decision to utilize sunlight as an electricity source for tube wells.
Subsidies for Solar Systems
The Punjab government is responsible for covering 67–75% of the building cost, with the remaining 25–33% being paid by vendors over a five-year period.
The solar system’s capacity is the basis for subsidies.
Subsidy of PKR 500,000 for 10 kW.
Subsidy of PKR 750,000 for 15 kW.
Subsidy of PKR 1,000,000 for 20 kW.
The subsidies considerably reduce producers’ contributions, although the total cost of solar panels varies.
Key Features of the CM Punjab Solar Scheme
The Punjab Solar Scheme for tube wells has been defined by a multitude of key features that render energy sources readily available and affordable for farmers. Some of the characteristics include
Minimal Setup Cost
Initially, farmers can gather solar panels by paying a 25% down payment. This reduces the initial cost of project companies, making solar energy more accessible to small-scale producers.
Government Subsidy
The Punjab government gives the remaining 75% of the sum, which farmers must agree to repay over a five-year period in interest-free installments. The initial single-sum development cost decreases by this subsidy scheme for manufacturers.
Comprehensive Package
The scheme comprises all the basic equipment needed for the installation and operation of the solar energy production system, such as batteries and inverter devices, along with solar panels. This comprehensive approach allows the production of energy in operating tube wells in a seamless manner.
Cost Savings
In comparison with PKR 1,500 for electricity tube wells as well as PKR 3,000 for diesel wells, powered by sunlight wells lower irrigation costs by roughly PKR 50 per acre. Farmers can save more than PKR 10,000 a day and PKR 350,000 bimonthly.
Specific Eligibility Criteria
Residency: Legal residence in Punjab is needed.
Electricity Spending: Domestic consumers who utilize up to 200 units of electrical power per month are eligible for complimentary devices.
